Who doesn’t love garlic bread?
And what is a quick and easy way to improve on the tried and true ol’ fashion grilled cheese sandwich? Grilled cheese sandwiches are a staple here, with so many options to embellish with different cheese, lunch meats, or even leftovers from the grill (grilled cheese with pulled pork or brisket for instance). We’ve used this food hack to take the classic family approved weekday meal to the next level.
Walking through the grocery store one afternoon picking up some food items for some friends from out of town that were coming over that evening I decided garlic bread (you know the stuff; comes in a foil bag near the checkout stands, ready to pop in the oven for a few minutes for that perfect blend of crisp and soft) well, they didn’t happen to have that at the time so I settled on second best: the little tub of store brand garlic spread in the bakery section. It turns out, using that in place of butter does a fantastic job browning up and kicks the flavor up a notch.
So that’s the recipe: make your favorite grilled cheese sandwich combo but this time, use garlic bread spread instead of butter.
Plus, while you have the pan or griddle hot, you can make some “bread and spread” as it has been named here – again with the simple recipe: garlic bread spread, bread, heat.
